EVENTRIDER.COM ON FIRLE: Everything is fairly close at hand. Dressage plenty of space and nice and flat and quiet. Show jumping near the tradestands, again plenty of space, and lots of spectators. Fantastic up to height inviting tracks. Testing but well built.

EVENTING magazine's independent Horse Trials Guide verdict on Firle Place Horse Trials (April 2006):
Plus points: "A lovely event - I always look forward to bringing my young horses here. The show jumping was very atmospheric, with lots of trade stands and spectators. The dressage facilities are good. The cross country tracks have become more flowing and ride well if attacked. The stew ponds always catch out ditchy horses, but are a good test'. [The stew ponds are only in the Novice, and have a long alternative] "Educational and well built courses with plenty of alternatives for the less experienced. A really nice atmosphere." "The Intro and pre novice courses are good for first timers. The novice asks a few questions, but has time-consuming alternatives".

Areas for improvement: "None. The best event last year!"

Prizes included jewellery sets from one of our main sponsors, Pinkie Jones for the Novice sections, DVDs from Equestrian Vision, a dressage lesson with Southern champion Markus Bauer, schooling sessions at Coomblands XC, show jumping lessons with Judi Piper, a day hunting with the Coakham Bloodhounds and more.

Thank you and all your helpers for a great competition at Firle Place at the weekend. Moving the show jumping and trade stands up to the house has transformed the event and has made it into one of the best Novice venues.
Jeremy Samuels, competitor

Many thanks to you and all your staff and helpers for organising such a brilliant event. The whole thing just keeps getting bigger and better each year and it really makes it feel you've achieved something showjumping with all the stands and people etc. all around. Great atmosphere!

Thanks for a wonderful day
.... The food was brilliant and what can I say about the fence, superb, really really pleased.  Any chance of the same fence next year?  We sat there for about two hours sipping Pimms until it ran out, wonderful. Thanks again and could you please pass out thanks to everyone in the marquee.
Liz Trigwell, Freeman Forman Ltd

"The marquee, food, service - not forgetting the lavatories - was nothing short of spectacular"

Roger Rawlings, Swift Alarms

(The marquees and toilets are provided by our long term sponsor, Village Marquees, who have been very generous to the event over the years. We recommend them!)
