Exciting News in 2009
We will be running Regional Finals for the BE90 (Intro) and BE100 (PreNovice) Grassroots Championship which will be held at Badminton in 2010.
As if getting to splash through the famous Badminton lake is not enough (over a course designed and built by our course designers, Willis Brothers) Rainbow Equine is generously sponsoring the BE100 Regional Final with beautiful new commemorative rugs for the qualifiers. They are also giving a rug to the winner of every section:

*********************************************
We are pleased to welcome Rainbow Equine as a new sponsor for the BE100 Regional Final. Says director Kerry Viney, "We are delighted to be sponsoring the BE100 Regional Final at Firle Place Horse Trials. We will be providing beautiful commemorative show rugs for the first five riders to qualify for the final and to the winners in all other sections. It is important for us in our launch year to be supporting such a great local event and the grassroots level of Eventing". She adds, “The opportunity to compete at Badminton 2010 is a huge incentive for any rider. I think that its is an excellent opportunity for us to be associated with such a great competition, and we look forward to what we hope will be a hotly contested regional final”.

We are also delighted to welcome the ochre organisation as a new Novice Section sponsor for 2009. Says Managing Director Sharon Bayliss, " the ochre organisation is a business transformation consultancy based in the south-east. It was important to us to sponsor Firle this year as our aim is to work with and support where necessary our local community. We look forward to what I am sure will be an enjoyable event for competitor and spectator alike."

Now in its 33rd year the Firle Place Horse Trials and Country Fair will once again be celebrating country life, in particular the thrilling spectacle of over 400 horse and riders competing, and all the fun that can be had from showing and competing your dog.
In the past this event has attracted between 7,000 to 10,000 visitors and spectators. You can enjoy your day by strolling around the many trade stands and food stalls as well as enjoying all the noise and excitement of the dog shows and racing.
This year the Horse Trials are running Intermediate Novice, Novice, Pre-Novice and Intro classes, along with the 6, 5 and 4 year old Breeding Classes.
A fun day out for all the Family, including the dog!

ZetaColour Printers and Village Marquees are also continuing their long term sponsorship of the event, and we are extremely grateful to them for the generous support.
Golden Cross Equestrian Centre (click through to see the wide range of events and clinics on offer), are continuing their sponsorship and providing the stabling once more.
Sussex Haylage and Mr and Mrs GH Rodaway (who can be contacted on 01273 890000). This high quality feed company is generously sponsoring a section, and we will also be looking to build a new jump with Sussex Haylage as the theme.

EVENTRIDER.COM ON FIRLE: Everything is fairly close at hand. Dressage plenty of space and nice and flat and quiet. Show jumping near the tradestands, again plenty of space, and lots of spectators. Fantastic up to height inviting tracks. Testing but well built.
EVENTING magazine's independent Horse Trials Guide verdict on Firle Place Horse Trials (April 2006):
Plus points: "A lovely event - I always look forward to bringing my young horses here. The show jumping was very atmospheric, with lots of trade stands and spectators. The dressage facilities are good. The cross country tracks have become more flowing and ride well if attacked. The stew ponds always catch out ditchy horses, but are a good test'. [The stew ponds are only in the Novice, and have a long alternative] "Educational and well built courses with plenty of alternatives for the less experienced. A really nice atmosphere." "The Intro and pre novice courses are good for first timers. The novice asks a few questions, but has time-consuming alternatives".
Areas for improvement: "None. The best event last year!"

Thank you and all your helpers for a great competition at Firle Place at the weekend. Moving the show jumping and trade stands up to the house has transformed the event and has made it into one of the best Novice venues.
Jeremy Samuels, competitor
Many thanks to you and all your staff and helpers for organising such a brilliant event. The whole thing just keeps getting bigger and better each year and it really makes it feel you've achieved something showjumping with all the stands and people etc. all around. Great atmosphere!

Thanks for a wonderful day.... The food was brilliant and what can I say about the fence, superb, really really pleased. Any chance of the same fence next year? We sat there for about two hours sipping Pimms until it ran out, wonderful. Thanks again and could you please pass out thanks to everyone in the marquee.
Liz Trigwell, Freeman Forman Ltd
"The marquee, food, service - not forgetting the lavatories - was nothing short of spectacular"
Roger Rawlings, Swift Alarms
(The marquees and toilets are provided by our long term sponsor, Village Marquees, who have been very generous to the event over the years. We recommend them!)
